Regarding Jean-Louis' exhibition, "Rewriting History," the HuffPost found that the "Victorian era dresses, fashioned almost entirely from paper, become actors in a photographic essay that challenges history, reality, and time. Visual, sculptural and performative at once, the work reels viewers into an alternate realm; one that heroically re-examines the past and thrusts the majesty of African ancestors — real and imagined — to the fore. Each image has its factual, historical connection and a narrative remixed via Fabiola's multi-dimensional lens. The dresses, and their environments, are imbued with vestiges of fantasy and futurism, creating impressions that are otherworldly, palpable, and highly persuasive."

Syracuse Stage partners with more than 75 theaters across the country to broadcast a radio adaption of Sinclair Lewis's 1930s politically charged novel It Can't Happen Here. Produced by the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, the show stars Oscar nominated actor David Strathairn. Also in the cast is Greta Oglesby, who starred in Syracuse Stage's production of Caroline, or Change.

Written in 1935 during the rise of fascism in Europe, Lewis's darkly satirical It Can't Happen Here follows the ascent of a demagogue who becomes president of the United States by promising to return the country to greatness. The new stage adaptation, which premiered at the Berkeley Repertory Theater in 2016, closed just one week before the presidential election roiled our nation. Now, Berkeley Rep reprises that production, but this time Syracuse Stage along with theaters across the country will be joining to broadcast this production as a radio play. The broadcast is intended to encourage participation in the upcoming election.

Thom Filicia started his career at renowned design firms Parish-Hadley, Robert Metzger and Bilhuber & Associates. He launched his acclaimed enterprise Thom Filicia Inc. in 1998 and emerged as one of today's most influential and respected interior and product designers. His projects range from residential and hospitality to commercial interiors all over the world.

His design portfolio includes such projects as the VIP Suite for the USA Pavilion at the World's Fair in Aichi, Japan; an eco-friendly apartment for Riverhouse, Manhattan's first premium (LEED certified) "green" luxury condominium tower; and the Delta Sky Decks at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Filicia has been praised as a top designer and international tastemaker. He gained widespread fame for his role as the interior design expert on the Emmy Award-winning "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," as well as for his television work for Style Network, HGTV and most recently Bravo's "Get a Room with Carson & Thom."

He is also the driving force behind the Thom Filicia Home Collection, which includes furniture, artwork, bedding, textiles and wallcovering, and has a flagship showroom, called Sedgwick & Brattle, at The New York Design Center.

Filicia is the best-selling author of "Thom Filicia Style" (Atria/Simon & Schuster, 2008) and "American Beauty: Renovating and Decorating a Beloved Retreat" (Clarkson Potter Publishers, 2012).

In 2011, he was named one of Elle Decor's top 25 A-List Designers. In 2006, he was chosen as one of House Beautiful's Top 100 American Designers and House & Garden's Top 50 "Tastemakers."

People feel an undeniable attraction to Cuba after visiting even once. It's mostly about the people— their warmth and friendliness, their art, music and culture. However, it is almost impossible to photograph or create art in Cuba without capturing the effects of the embargo. Photographer Joe Guerriero's photography and film work does just that, reflecting more than 20 years of spending time with the Cuban people and experiencing first hand the effects of the United States' continuing embargo of the island. He shows how the embargo affects the lives not only of Cubans but of those Cuban-Americans who still have relatives in Cuba.

The ancient Andean civilizations of South America were strikingly diverse in their religious beliefs and material cultures, but each developed complex ceramics for both domestic and ritual use. This exhibition features key pieces from the Museum's collection, including several recent acquisitions from the Nazca, Paracas, Moche, Chimú, and Chavin cultures.

Visiting Artist Lecture Series: Dorian Wood

Dorian Wood seeks to glorify both the sanctity and irreverence of intimacy. Through the use of their corpulent body and booming voice, Wood revels in challenging the artist-audience separation, using subject matter informed by their own perspective as a non-binary brown person and an autodidact. Their work has been showcased in concert halls and performance spaces around the world, including at institutions like The Broad, REDCAT, Museo Nacional Del Prado, the City Hall of Madrid and Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris in Mexico City. From 2019 to 2020, Wood completed several successful tours throughout Europe, Mexico and the U.S. with their chamber orchestra tribute to Chavela Vargas, XAVELA LUX AETERNA. Most recently, Wood became a 2020 Creative Capital Award recipient. Wood has released over a dozen recordings, among them the albums BOLKA (2007); Brutus (2010); Rattle Rattle (Atonal Industries, 2013); Down, The Dirty Roof (Atonal Industries, 2013) and XALÁ (Atonal Industries, 2017).

A Dream of a New Past: A Reading by Poet Philip Metres

Philip Metres is the author of 10 books, including Shrapnel Maps (Copper Canyon, 2020), The Sound of Listening: Poetry as Refuge and Resistance (University of Michigan, 2018), Pictures at an Exhibition (University of Akron, 2016), Sand Opera (Alice James, 2015), and I Burned at the Feast: Selected Poems of Arseny Tarkovsky (Cleveland State, 2015). His work—including poetry, translation, essays, fiction, criticism, and scholarship—has garnered a Lannan fellowship, two NEA fellowships, six Ohio Arts Council Grants, the Hunt Prize, the Adrienne Rich Award, three Arab American Book Awards, the Watson Fellowship, the Lyric Poetry Prize, and the Cleveland Arts Prize. Metres has been called "one of the essential poets of our time," whose work is "beautiful, powerful, magnetically original." His poems have been translated into Arabic, Farsi, Polish, Russian, and Tamil. He is professor of English and director of the Peace, Justice, and Human Rights program at John Carroll University, and lives with his family in Cleveland, OH.

Presented with the Syracuse University Humanities Center, in the College of Arts and Sciences, as part of the 2020-21 Syracuse Symposium on Futures.

Syracuse Stage partners with more than 75 theaters across the country to broadcast a radio adaption of Sinclair Lewis's 1930s politically charged novel It Can't Happen Here. Produced by the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, the show stars Oscar nominated actor David Strathairn. Also in the cast is Greta Oglesby, who starred in Syracuse Stage's production of Caroline, or Change.

Written in 1935 during the rise of fascism in Europe, Lewis's darkly satirical It Can't Happen Here follows the ascent of a demagogue who becomes president of the United States by promising to return the country to greatness. The new stage adaptation, which premiered at the Berkeley Repertory Theater in 2016, closed just one week before the presidential election roiled our nation. Now, Berkeley Rep reprises that production, but this time Syracuse Stage along with theaters across the country will be joining to broadcast this production as a radio play. The broadcast is intended to encourage participation in the upcoming election.

The ancient Andean civilizations of South America were strikingly diverse in their religious beliefs and material cultures, but each developed complex ceramics for both domestic and ritual use. This exhibition features key pieces from the Museum's collection, including several recent acquisitions from the Nazca, Paracas, Moche, Chimú, and Chavin cultures.

This decision, implemented by Museum Director Fernando Carter, was the first of many made by directors that ultimately defined the Everson's collection as it exists today. This exhibition examines over one hundred years of the Museum's collecting priorities, from the Museum's earliest acquisitions in 1911 to work acquired in 2019

People feel an undeniable attraction to Cuba after visiting even once. It's mostly about the people— their warmth and friendliness, their art, music and culture. However, it is almost impossible to photograph or create art in Cuba without capturing the effects of the embargo. Photographer Joe Guerriero's photography and film work does just that, reflecting more than 20 years of spending time with the Cuban people and experiencing first hand the effects of the United States' continuing embargo of the island. He shows how the embargo affects the lives not only of Cubans but of those Cuban-Americans who still have relatives in Cuba.

Regarding Jean-Louis' exhibition, "Rewriting History," the HuffPost found that the "Victorian era dresses, fashioned almost entirely from paper, become actors in a photographic essay that challenges history, reality, and time. Visual, sculptural and performative at once, the work reels viewers into an alternate realm; one that heroically re-examines the past and thrusts the majesty of African ancestors — real and imagined — to the fore. Each image has its factual, historical connection and a narrative remixed via Fabiola's multi-dimensional lens. The dresses, and their environments, are imbued with vestiges of fantasy and futurism, creating impressions that are otherworldly, palpable, and highly persuasive."
