"Deadlocked and Loaded: Disarming America" is a "locked and loaded" conversation through art, showcasing art in all media that addresses the culture of violence, systemic racism, police brutality, and gun issues in the United States—particularly in how it affects women and children.

This exhibition is curated by Karen Gutfreund of Syracuse. She is a partner in Gutfreund Cornett Art, a curatorial partnership that specializes in creating exhibitions in venues around the U.S. ?on themes of "art as activism" to stimulate dialog, ?raise consciousness ?and encourage social change.

Additional work by 12 artists is also on exhibit as part of this exhibition at the Community Folk Art Center Gallery and Point of Contact Gallery.

The Everson began collecting contemporary Japanese ceramics in earnest in the mid 1970s, an experimental period when artists were applying geometric forms and conceptual strategies to traditional materials and forms. The exhibition highlights this under-recognized generation of artists who are now credited with laying the groundwork for today's contemporary ceramic movement in Japan.

From Domestic to Divine: Andean Ceramics from the Permanent Collection

The ancient Andean civilizations of South America were strikingly diverse in their religious beliefs and material cultures, but each developed complex ceramics for both domestic and ritual use. This exhibition features key pieces from the Museum's collection, including several recent acquisitions from the Nazca, Paracas, Moche, Chimu´, and Chavin cultures.

In his first solo museum exhibition, local artist and activist Jaleel Campbell brings a powerful collection of work to the Everson stemming from the exploration of his family history and created with the intention of, in the artist's own words, "empowering and inspiring Black people in particular to know their worth." Everson curators Steffi Chappell and Garth Johnson will sit down with Jaleel to discuss his creative process and inspirations.

With razor-sharp wit and bare-knuckled grit, playwright Sharr White unfolds a story that affirms love as the most powerful and enduring human emotion. After 25 years apart, Emma has tracked her ex-husband Ulysses to a trailer park high in the Colorado Rockies. He's strapped to an oxygen canister; she's toting a mountain of luggage. After so long a separation what can they say to each other? "Holy crap," for starters; from there it's an uphill climb through loss and love that might just end in a summit of forgiveness. Stephan Wolfert and Dawn Stern star in this comic and profoundly moving duet of a play, performed and video recorded in a trailer, somewhere, perhaps in the middle of nowhere.
