Set in turn-of-the-century America, Ragtime weaves together the stories of three very different groups: a wealthy white family, a determined Black musician and his family, and Jewish immigrants pursuing a better life. As their lives intersect, the musical explores hope, injustice, love, prejudice, and the changing American Dream against the backdrop of a nation entering a new century. Featuring music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and a book by Terrence McNally, Ragtime is based on the acclaimed novel by E.L. Doctorow.
