Choral works by a late 15th-century master, one of the two or three pre-eminent composers of his era. Born and trained in the Netherlands, Isaac spent most of his professional life in the employ of patrons in Italy and Germany, including Lorenzo de Medici. A prolific composer of masses, motets, and secular songs, he is credited with influencing the acceptance in Germany of the Franco-Flemish polyphonic style of composition. He was famous in his lifetime for a huge cycle of motets for the Mass Propers of the church year.
