Loren Barrigar and Lara Herscovitch, with host Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers
Words and Music Songwriter Showcase

Price: $10-$15 suggested donation
Seneca Street Brew Pub
315 E. Seneca St., Manlius

The show will include an open-mic songwriter spotlight featuring J. Schnitt, Bryan Dickenson, Chris Cresswell, and Andrew Halliday.

Loren Barrigar started playing guitar when he was only four years old, and by the time he was six, he played the Chet Atkins hit "Yackety Axe" in front of thousands of country music fans at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. He went on to study with Jimmy Atkins (Chet's brother), which led to a touring career with his family band from Nashville to Las Vegas. His finely honed songwriting skills have launched his melodies on NBC's ER, The Young and the Restless, and on a Christmas CD with BB King and Patti Labelle. In addition to solo concerts, he performs internationally with Mark Mazengarb in the guitar duo Loren and Mark. For this show, Barrigar will perform his originals, both vocal and instrumental.

Lara Herscovitch is a gem of a modern American troubadour. Her highly original contemporary folk is spiced with blues, pop, and jazz influences. Based in Connecticut, Herscovitch writes, sings, and leads with authenticity, integrity, humor, and heart. Sound Waves Magazine described her mastery as "expertly written prose ... songwriting at its best ... It's good for your ears and your soul." This craftsmanship travels on a voice that Performer Magazine called "clear and smooth like expensive liquor," and is accompanied by guitar infused with her skill as a percussionist.

Series host Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers is a grand prize winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, the founding editor of Acoustic Guitar magazine, and author of The Complete Singer-Songwriter.
